Details: Las Palmas and Bentall Residential purchased and renovated this 151-unit Senior HUD project-based Section 8 community in Indio, California. The complex is affordable to seniors earning up to 50% of the area median income. The renovation included: Interior: New windows, cabinets, countertops, flooring and paint. The existing community room was remodeled and includes new manager and service coordinator offices as well as a computer learning center. Exterior: New paint, landscaping and irrigation upgrades. AMENITIES INCLUDE: Community Room; Manager’s Office; Service Coordinator; Computer Learning Center. Within walking distance of Indio Gardens is the public library, grocery stores, banks and a Greyhound Bus Station. Less than a mile from the community are two public parks: 1) Miles Park, home to the International Tamale Festival, ranked as one of the top 10 “All-American Food Festivals” in the nation by Food Network-TV. More than 125,000 tamale lovers fill the streets of Old Town Indio to sample every type of tamale one can possibly imagine. Activities include the festive holiday parade, carnival; and 2) South Jackson Park, which houses the newly built “state of the art” soccer facility.
