Details: Carleton Co-op is a 47 unit senior community in the small, rural town of Carleton, Michigan. It is conveniently located within five miles of the 1-275 expressway, in northern Monroe county. Carleton Co-op is nationally recognized as “A Community of Quality” by the National Affordable Housing Management Association. The property was completed in 1993 and provides apartments for ages 62+. The co-op represents the enjoyment and freedom that comes with affordable living. Resident members enjoy the peace and privacy of their apartments, but also enjoy participating in the many community events the resident members sponsor. You can join in the doughnut and coffee hour, bingo, table games, cards, wii bowling, or just relaxing in our living/community room or out on the patio in our lovely garden. There are occasional catered events and many other chances to be a part of a fun community. Some of these activities may be on hold right now, due to the pandemic. Carleton Co-op is gradually transforming into a 100% smoke free co-op; smoking is not allowed in any common area or within 25 feet of the building. There are a few members who are still permitted to smoke in their own apartments, because they signed a waiver prior to the full implementation of the new smoking rules. All new members as of March 8, 2017, are not allowed to smoke inside their own apartment. Carleton Co-op is located next to: medical offices, pharmacy, banking, post office, grocery store, restaurants, dollar store, hardware store and more. The Carelton community is considered a sleepy town with senior programs and activities in the area. Carleton is affordable for everyone. Rent is based on a percentage of the household's income.

Details: Woodcraft Square is located in Monroe, MI and consists of 208 HUD - subsidized apartments. We offer quality, affordable housing for elderly, disabled and family households. Our main building consists of 120 one and two bedroom units designated for seniors and disabled residents. Waitlist preference is given to applicants with elderly household members. The 88 family units include 78 two and three bedroom townhouses and 10 two bedroom garden flats. Applicants must be income eligible based on the very low and extremely low income limits established by HUD under the Section 8 program. Our historic main building, formerly the Weis Complex/La-Z-Boy Factory, houses our senior households and features interesting architectural details. These spacious apartments feature high ceilings, original wood beams and exposed brick while our modern townhouse units feature central A/C, front porches, individual entry and private patios. We are located less than a mile from the heart of downtown Monroe. Public transportation is available in front of the main building through Lake Erie Transit. The bus stops at Woodcraft Square every 30 minutes and continues on route to the center of the city, shopping centers, Social Security Office, City Hall, educational facilities and residential areas. Our professional on-site management and maintenance team provides friendly customer service.
