Larger units offer washer and dryer hook-ups. The senior apartments are grouped together, closest to transportation and shopping. There are also a laundry facility, a community room and onsite computer center. |

To provide maximum open space on the ten acre site, three-story buildings with private patios or decks were constructed, a feature praised by the City of Sunnyvale’s Planning Director, who noted that more open space was provided at Homestead Park than was generally encountered in Sunnyvale. Homestead Park shares a community building with neighboring MidPen property, Moulton Plaza, which provides a community room and a computer center. There are also laundry facilities, outdoor common areas, and extensive playgrounds and lawns. Senior units are grouped together nearest to shopping and transportation, with their own laundry room and outdoor common area. |

The development received funding reservation from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under the Section 811 Capital Advance Program in October 1997. Charities Housing solicited extensive community involvement to ensure this project is a success. Focus groups were conducted to see what are most important to developmentally disabled adults seeking to live independently. Family members of developmentally disabled adults helped to select the service provider, Employment & Community Options, for Stoney Pine Villa. |
