The Edgemont Senior Center is the place where noon meals are served five days each week for those who need a balanced supplement to their nutrition needs. Banking and a grocery store is also available in town, as well as community-wide programs through the local Edgemont Schools, various churches in town, a public library and a local branch of the YMCA. Each unfurnished unit has it’s own outside entrance into the living room, where a large window overlooks the central courtyard. The kitchen is equipped with a full-sized electric range and a double-door refrigerator, with adjoining dining space. The bedroom is large enough for a queen-sized bed with plenty of room for a dresser and generous closet space. The bathroom has a full bathtub, while 2 of the units are equipped with a walk-in shower for handicapped accessibility. Our units average just over 500 square feet and are equipped with a 30 gallon water heater for plenty of hot water! Each unit is also equipped with emergency pull-cords for neighborly response if someone should fall or need emergency assistance. The park-like setting includes a covered gazebo for community gatherings during nice weather or family picnics. The community building has coin-operated laundry equipment for the use by all residents and a small office for leasing activities. One of the residents serves as "responder" for maintenance needs and simple grounds keeping, as well as the occasional times when a resident inadvertently locks their door without having their keys with them! Off-street parking is available for residents as well as a limited number of visitor parking spaces without charge. |
