There are 34 apartments in the federally assisted HUD apartment building. Recently opened in February of 2012, the resident apartment location was built with a 5.2 million dollar grant from The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, awarded in 2010. Designed by Durkee Brown Viverios & Werenfels, and built by Calson Construction Corporation. Each apartment is nicely appointed and includes a stove, refrigerator, and plentiful cabinets and drawers. The bathroom is spacious with a walk in, accessible shower with safety bars. A community laundry room is located on each floor. A certified Resident Service Coordinator (part-time) to offer assistance to residents in acquiring supportive services in order to maintain the highest level of independence. Health monitoring clinics such as blood pressure screening, weight and glucose screenings as well as educational programs will be offered. Additional storage outside the apartment. Transportation to local shopping is available weekly and organized by the Resident Service Coordinator. Located on the RIPTA bus line, with the stop located in very near proximity to the apartment building. |

Shalom Apartments has 100 units, including 95 one-bedroom and 5 two-bedroom apartments. All apartments have fully equipped kitchens, wall-to-wall carpeting, emergency call systems and air-conditioner sleeves. The building houses elevators, community rooms, security cameras and laundry facilities on four floors. Shalom Apartments is funded under HUD Section 202 guidelines. Tenants must be aged 62 or older to qualify as seniors; those with mobility impairments must be 18 or older. Both tenant eligibility and rents are based on annual income. Qualifying tenants pay 30% of their income for rent. |

Like Shalom Apartments, Shalom II is funded under HUD guidelines. Only persons aged 62 and older are eligible to live at Shalom II. Tenant eligibility and rent are based on annual income. |
