Designed as an independent living residence with one- and two-bedroom apartments, it also offers a range of supportive services for its longtime tenants who have aged into their 70s, 80s, and 90s. On-site staff provides case management, as well as support and referrals for educational, medical, mental health, legal and money management services, all of which help tenants live independently for as long as possible. Recreational programming includes discussion groups, movies, trips to performances and cultural events, holiday parties, and gardening and plant sales at its adjoining greenhouse. Phelps House tenants are regular participants in a range of Goddard Riverside programs, including the Senior Center and intergenerational activities with Goddard Riverside youth participants.
