Details: Lakeview’s apartments are spread over four beige brick buildings ranging from 10 – 24 stories, that overlook Central Park in East Harlem. Lakeview was built in 1974 under the state’s Mitchell-Lama program and over time, became plagued by financial and physical distress, including widespread water infiltration and a mortgage that went unpaid for years. Since becoming involved at Lakeview, LIHC Investment Group has acted to stabilize the property and funded more than $20 million in capital improvements, including modernizing elevators; addressing Local Law 11 issues; repairing chronic leaks; installing a $1.5 million project-wide security camera system; replacing electric baseboard heaters, thermostats and transformers; and equipping all apartments with new kitchens and bathrooms. Common area hallways throughout the complex have been outfitted with hardwood floors, and the number of lobbies have been reduced from four to two to further enhance security. More than a thousand low-and moderate-income New Yorkers call Lakeview Apartments home—a significant percentage of which would otherwise face extreme difficulty finding safe and adequate housing in their neighborhood, and in Manhattan overall.

Latest Reviews, Comments, Questions for LAKEVIEW APARTMENTS

Comment from F. Tenant on 2020-10-22 19:59:45: They claim there aren't any available apartments, but there are. They accept under the table payments for apartments. Allowing a multitude of illegal East Indian immigrants to move in. These people steal others belongings (which the security guards are aware of- yet, do nothing about it), smoke weed in conjunction to sweeping the debris and garbage from their apartments into the public hallway for the maintenance to clean up. Not to mention that they hang their laundry in the stairwells ! Meanwhile, there are people who have been on the waiting list for over 5 years , that can't get an apartment. There are Caucasian tenants that are otherwise ghost tenants. They have their name on the lease, but they only live there when they are in town, or they sublet the apartment to their friends- which last I checked was forbidden. And, if you're African American or married/dating one- LOL ! No dice. Even with a sparkling reputation and rental history. Someone should really do an investigation into this.
