Details: Harrison Square is a 19-unit apartment community in Rockford, Illinois, which was completed in 2009. As with all our projects, market research in each community is carefully done before moving forward. What we found in Rockford was a strong advocacy group for people with disabilities and a great desire to find barrier-free housing for their constituents. Harrison Square is also the home of a man with physical disabilities that walked 90 miles between Rockford and Chicago in seven-mile increments, with the help of area churches, to raise donations for Over the Rainbow Association. There have been several residents who completed college while living at the Harrison Square Apartments and are now employed.
