Details: When Claystone at the Crossing was purchased by new management in 2015, they had one goal set particularly high: making choice an option for low-income families. The vision for Romney Meadows is to be not only an affordable housing community that people live in, but a community that people want to live in. That distinction can provide a person with pride and hope. When Claystone changed hands, there were some big hurdles to overcome to improve the public perception of the affordable housing community in Lafayette, Indiana. The community has been revamped to include sustainable interior lighting, ventilation, insulation, and appliances, resulting in less maintenance and lower energy bills. Substantial measures were taken to increase security by adding more exterior lighting and surveillance cameras. The complex was also upgraded with long-term capital improvements such as refinished blacktop and sidewalks and improved roofing on units. When the history of Romney Meadows is told years from now, the goal is to make that conversation positive.
