Details: Developed in 1999, Senior Living on Bellingham Hill in Chelsea, MA offers supportive housing for low-income elders 62 years and over. The project, which was an adaptive reuse of the former Chelsea Memorial Hospital, was funded by the U.S Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD). The site has evolved into a Serviced Enriched Housing environment where tenants age in place and enjoy the highest possible quality of life. Bellingham Hill is comprised of 60 units: sixteen (16) one-bedroom and forty-four (44) studio apartments, each with its own kitchen area, private bathroom, living-dining area, and a 24-hour emergency call system. All apartments and common areas are designed to be fully accessible and to accommodate physical limitations.
