Details: The Salvation Army in cooperation with HUD has built 64 apartments; each of the 512 square foot apartments has a living room, one bedroom, one bathroom and a kitchen. Evangeline Booth Garden Apartments has large bathrooms featuring safety grab bars. Also included in each apartment are telephone and cable television access, wall-to-wall carpeting, generous closet space and an efficiently designed kitchen with standard appliances. EBGA has a large laundry facility and a thousand-plus book library/computer room. Additionally, we have a large community room with adjoining warm-up kitchen and crafts room. Small pets are allowed with a required additional pet deposit of $300.00. EBGA offers 4 apartments for mobility impaired elderly families, which feature lower countertops and countertops without cabinets under them. The 4 units also contain non-curbed showers and lower closet shelving. EBGA also offers 2 apartments for hearing impaired elderly families, which contain fire alarm strobes and illuminated door annunciators. NOTE: Persons with degenerative conditions may qualify for one of these accessible units if their condition results in mobility or hearing impairment that makes the applicant able to benefit from the special design features of the apartment.
