Property Description:
Harriet Bryan House, which opened in 2007, provides 67 one-bedroom apartments for very low-income elderly residents. The building was named after the PCH Trustee, Harriet Bryan, who was instrumental in the development of the community. This three story building features community rooms, a common dining room and kitchen, offices for the staff, and two laundry rooms on each floor for the residents’ use. The HUD Project Rental Assistance Program supplies rent subsidies. No resident’s rent exceeds 30% of his or her adjusted annual income. Harriet Bryan House offers its residents a Congregate Care Program similar to its neighbor - meal, light housekeeping, and limited personal care services. Spacious, graciously furnished lounge areas accommodate a range of social opportunities which include bingo, parties, exercise classes, and other group activities. The Community Garden is a joint venture between Harriet Bryan House and Elm Court - an adjacent PCH community. Residents of the two communities grow vegetables and flowers in their own garden plots. Transportation to grocery stores, the hospital, the Princeton Shopping Center, Palmer Square and various churches is available on a weekly basis through transportation services provided by Princeton, Princeton Community Housing and Mercer County. These activities and services make Harriet Bryan House a lovely place to live.
