Blevins Too opened as a 24 hour care facility in 2006. At that time, it replaced the original Blevins House which opened in 1989 and was the first HIV+ group home in North Carolina. The transition from 24 hour care to independent living is a result of the medical breakthroughs that help individuals live healthier and productive lives. The Single Room Occupancy (SRO) model is working well for men that need a stable, wholesome environment to regroup, recharge and reimagine their lives. Blevins Too is a six bedroom SRO for men only and is located in Durham, NC. The house is handicapped accessible and located on the bus line and near Durham’s Tobacco Trail. It is also convenient to many shopping options and restaurants. Bedrooms are furnished with a small refrigerator, full size bed, dresser, night stand, a chair, and access to WiFi. Residents share the common areas; kitchen, dining, den, living room and patio. And they also share the responsibility of cooking and cleaning. This is a smoke and drug free environment. To qualify for housing one must meet the eligibility requirements of HUD. Criminal and credit reports are part of the screening process. The rent is based on 30% of the gross adjusted income.
