Originally built in 1905 to be used as company suites and residential apartments for a local manufacturer of metalworking tools, the building was quickly converted to the Weldon Hotel. Weldon was not only the first all concrete hotel in New England, it was also one of the most appealing and most expensive hotels in the region. Due to its significance Weldon House entered the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. In 1982, Weldon House was renovated to cater to low income elderly and disabled individuals.
