Shiloh Manor
- Subsidized, Low-Rent Apartment (for Elderly)
Location: Easton, PA - 18042 Contact Phone: (610) 252-1333 Details: The Shiloh Manor was a vision that began in the mind of the late Pastor Fred Davis of the Shiloh Baptist Church. In 1987, while attending a world conference in Japan, Pastor Davis met a former associate and a Philadelphia realtor who specialized in building senior citizen complexes. With this renewed fellowship, Pastor Davis and Mr. Hatton developed a strategy to apply for a HUD sponsored loan to build a senior citizen’s home. In May 1990, the Shiloh Baptist Church, with strong faith in God and, a $10,000 loan, made application to HUD for $1.1 million dollars. Eventually, it was realized neither the Church nor the community was ready to embark upon this program, so the application was withdrawn. In May 1991, the Church submitted the application again and was turned down. One year later, the application was completed, re-submitted and approved for $3.7 million dollars. Hence, the Shiloh Manor was built. Since its completion in July 1993, the late Pastor Fred Davis, Sr., our present Senior Pastor Phillip Davis, the GSC congregation, the community, and the Board of Directors, continue to rejoice that there are 58 units to provide affordable housing for senior citizens of diverse backgrounds. The Shiloh Manor, located on the south side of Easton stands as a monument to the glory of God and a testimony of His great works. |
