It was a YMCA branch where support and programs focused on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. To meet the growing demand and needs of our aging population, with the financial support of U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), we built Mont Pleasant Commons. Now the property is home to 49 non-smoking 538 square foot units of affordable senior apartments. Per HUD rules, an applicant must be at least 62 years of age with annual income limits (very low) that are established every year. The building is secured by an electronic entrance system and cameras throughout the common areas and exterior of the building. For additional security all areas are monitored for smoke/fire and connected directly to emergency response providers. We currently host: bi-weekly SilverSneakers® programs, a monthly Monday Matinee Movie, the very popular Bingo (hosted by tenants for tenants 3 times a week), and coffee hour every Friday afternoon. In the spring and summer you may enjoy our back patio or gazebo. If you have a green thumb, we provide garden plots for your favor vegetable and/or flowers. |

Noontime meals are available 7 days a week, intensive housekeeping, referrals, transportation, health and safety programming, recreational activities are also accessible. Dedicated in 1995 by Congressman Michael McNulty and Neil and Jane Golub, the facility has a full service commercial kitchen a smaller meeting room known as the Chapel, and is used daily. Operated weekdays by Catholic Charities of Sch'dy, a noontime meal program, with wraparound recreational, health and educational programming is in place for the residents.
