A separate community building with laundry facilities and a meeting room serves the residents. CRIL provides resources and support for independent living.

Details: Eden Issei Terrace is a response to the need for affordable housing for seniors in Hayward, California. The 100 units are designed in a traditional Japanese motif. The apartments, built in two wings, are clustered around a dining center, large lobby and crafts area. All areas, including the residents' balconies, look out onto the quiet gardens with bonsai-type trees, colorful flowers and reflecting pools. Details: Hayward Senior Housing is a 60-unit development of affordable senior rental housing at the northern end of the Cannery neighborhood in downtown Hayward and represents the inclusionary fulfillment of the master development sponsored by Citation Homes. The development is comprised of a three story building at the intersection of Grand and C Streets. Design of Hayward Senior Housing has been developed to provide an active senior residential facility that blends with the existing adjacent residential neighborhood while creating an architecturally harmonious transition to the adjacent commercial district. Recycled brick from Cannery buildings and stucco provide a distinctive historical accent to the building façade and the palate of earth-tone colors has been selected to enhance the development’s compatibility with the adjacent buildings. The development incorporates two multipurpose rooms, one of which opens onto an outdoor patio and formal garden with seating; library; lounge; central laundry; and tenant storage. Each of the senior apartment units targeting very low income seniors provide one bedroom, a kitchen, a living area and full bathroom. Hayward Senior is conveniently located directly across the street from the Downtown Hayward BART station, near the 880 freeway, and is on a local transit bus route. This affordable community is located near grocery shopping, restaurants, parks, and City Hall. Tennyson High School and Chaves Elementary School are nearby.

Details: Sara Conner Court is a 57-unit community of affordable rental homes. The project revitalizes a brownfield site in Hayward, previously occupied by a beverage processing plant, a gas station and a dry cleaner. Sara Conner Court is one of Alameda County’'s first GreenPoint Rated multifamily developments and is also Green Communities Certified by Enterprise Community Partners. The development was designed and constructed to be more energy and water efficient than required by code and includes many green features. Sara Conner Court consists of four buildings set around a large open space with a play area. An office, community room and laundry facility are located on Pulaski Drive, at the entrance to the main parking area. Parking is provided in 62 garage spaces and 35 surface spaces. Developed in partnership with the City of Hayward, this urban infill development is named in honor of the late Sara Conner, a community volunteer and longtime boardmember of Eden Housing.

Details: Eden Housing, Inc. partnered with La Vista, LLC (an affiliate of The DeSilva Group) and the City of Hayward to develop Walker Landing, a 78-unit affordable apartment complex at the northern end of Hayward's Mt. Eden neighborhood. This development was created as a result of the inclusionary housing policies of the City of Hayward, which resulted in the partnership between Eden, LaVista, LLC and KB Home. LaVista and KB provided the land and other support for Eden to construct the project. Eden was able to leverage this support and secure additional financial support for the development from Union Bank of California, U.S. Bancorp Community Development Corporation, the State of California's Multifamily Housing Program, and an Affordable Housing Program loan through Silicon Valley Bank. Walker Landing includes nine apartment buildings arranged around three courtyards. A central community building and large landscaped courtyard anchor the development. The residential buildings are two-story townhouses and flats. The development includes a resident community room that opens onto a central courtyard, outdoor seating and play areas, and barbeque and picnic areas. Smaller courtyards located throughout the development supplement this central common space. All units also have private open space in ground floor patios or second story balconies. The community room and computer learning center are used for resident activities and programs such as technology education and after-school and summer enrichment youth programs which are provided by Eden Housing Resident Services, Inc. The community room is located so that it can be opened up to the larger community as needed. The development's property management office is also located there. Surface parking is located in the back of the development and along two entries from North Lane. Carports are provided along the rear property line to buffer the residential property from the adjacent light industrial use, and to minimize their visibility from North Lane. Additional emergency vehicle access is available off of Saklan Road. The site is located within walking distance of Greenwood Park. Walker Landing families have convenient access to affordable public transportation on Winton Boulevard. Children living at Walker Landing attend Eden Gardens Elementary, Ochoa Middle, and Mt. Eden High School, all within the Hayward Unified School District. Each apartment is equipped with an Energy Star rated dishwasher, refrigerator, oven, and range with hood. An energy conserving design contributes to the development's affordability for residents, as well as long term benefit to the immediate environment. Walker Landing is named in honor of James Alonzo Walker, a long-time Eden Housing board member and dedicated and active volunteer in the Hayward community.
